Child Safeguarding Policy
Version 1 · Updated 10 October 2026
The safety and wellbeing of every child is our first responsibility. This policy applies to all TechAlpha staff and tutors.
Our commitments
- Tutors complete identity and background checks before teaching, and we record the status of these checks.
- Every tutor follows the Tutor Code of Conduct.
- Classes take place only through links provided inside the academy dashboard. Tutors must not arrange private meetings or calls with a child.
- Tutors do not see families' phone numbers or email addresses, and must not ask children for personal contact details or social media accounts.
- Feedback and messages about a child's learning are visible to the parent.
- Children's information is never made public. Portfolios are private unless the parent chooses to share them.
Recognising and reporting concerns
- If a child says something worrying, or a tutor sees something that suggests a child may be at risk, the tutor must report it to the academy's safeguarding lead the same day.
- Parents and children can raise a concern at any time by writing to techalphafoundation@gmail.com with the subject "Safeguarding". Concerns are treated confidentially and taken seriously.
- Where a child may be in immediate danger, we will contact the parent and the appropriate local authorities.
Online safety in class
- Tutors remind children not to share personal information on screen or in chat.
- Tutors keep class discussions on topic and appropriate for the age group.
- Classes are not recorded unless the Class Recording Policy says otherwise and parents have agreed.
Review
We review this policy at least once a year and after any incident.
